The Queer Mug Collection
Coming September 26th
$10 from each mug sold will be donated to Indiana Youth Group to support LGBTQ+ youth in the Hoosier state.
In May I started working on some new prints to celebrate our shared queer history. As of late, it has become harder to imagine the future queer people, in particular trans people, have in this country and in this state. Statewide nondiscrimination protections do not exist for LGBTQ+ folks and bills are continuously presented to restrict queer education, limit medical care access, censor books in schools, and deny respect to gay Hoosiers. LGBTQ+ youth are 120% more likely to experience homelessness nationwide (National Network for Youth). 43% of LGBTQ+ youth in Indiana considered suicide in the past year and are less likely to be able to access desired mental health care (Trevor Project). Roughly half of queer kids say their families have considered relocating to another state due to legislation in the last few years. But not everyone can leave.
In uncertain times like these, itβs important to remember that we take care of each other, we keep each other safe. Pictured, are the seven mug designs in the collection. $10 from each mug I sell will be donated to IYG, who provide resources, support, and community for LGBTQ+ youth and young adults (ages 12-24) in Indiana. If you are able, I encourage you to find your own ways to support our community too. π€
The mugs will all be listed here on my website Friday September 26th at 6pm EST.
